AG Garland Defends DOJ in Senate Showdown

Published

on

Attorney General Merrick Garland appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee to answer a number of questions Wednesday, regarding the new school of justice in America. Under Garland’s supervision, J6 protesters have been prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, illegal immigration has become untenable, the drug crisis is killing countless Americans, and crime is up all across the country.

In fact, in one line of questioning from Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ar), the senator cited some startling murder statistics that has the murder rate of Honduras and Mexico lower, per capita, than that of several major U.S. cities. To say it is a dereliction of duty on Garland’s behalf to allow such atrocities would be decidedly understating the obvious.

From C-SPAN:
Attorney General Merrick Garland testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on oversight of the Justice Department.

Topics included the department’s response to Mexican drug cartels and the fentanyl crisis, security for Supreme Court justices following their overturn of Roe v. Wade, perceived politicization of the department, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, Russian oligarch assets, classified documents, hate crimes, antitrust laws, and charges for drug-related crimes.

When asked about the Russian-based Wagner Group and the Mexican Sinaloa and Jalisco (CJNG) cartels, he said he “wouldn’t be opposed” to designating the groups as terrorist organizations.

In addition, he discussed the Justice Department’s focus on upholding the rule of law, keeping the country safe and protecting civil rights.

It seems the moral of the story for AG Garland is this: the more you mess around, the more you find out.
