Feinstein, 89, Confused By Her Own Retirement Announcement

While many may have been blissfully unaware, it seems Sen. Diane Feinstein, at age 89, is still haunting the halls of Congress, as she has for decades now. She has announced plans to retire at the end of her current term, which has made her the longest-serving woman in the Senate. The announcement in and of itself openly demonstrated why a person of her “life experience” should not be running this country. Video report of her announcement is here.

Feinstein originally won her seat in the 1992 election, and if she holds on until the next election, will bring her grand total Senate “service” to 32 years. While she used to be a firebrand, with key seats on several committees, the last few years she has been all but invisible to the naked eye, drawing as little attention to herself as possible. Though there was this one altercation with school age children, proving she’s out of touch with the more extreme members of her constituency.

Which brings to mind term limits. How many years of ineffective “service” will the American people continue to allow from its elected officials? From the President on down, the overall age of the electorate is largely geriatric, or what most Americans call “retirement age”.

Feinstein appears remarkably conservative by the current Democratic Party’s Progressive standards, but she has been a perpetual thorn in every Republican President’s side, since she was first elected. Ideology rarely deviates or moderates on the Left, and the same is true where Feinstein is concerned. There may not be much concern amongst Democrats about her seat being flipped Republican, but the race will be wrought with drama, as only Democrats can create.
