Putin Pulls Russia Out of Nuclear Treaty After Biden Visits Ukraine

President Vladimir Putin announced, in his State of the Nation speech Tuesday, that Russia would be pulling out of the New START nuclear treaty with the U.S., that has been in effect since 2011. The announcement comes the day after American president, Joe Biden, paid a “surprise” visit to Ukraine, honoring those lost in the last year of conflict, and delivering another half a billion dollars in American taxes to the Ukrainian war effort.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has been ongoing for the better part of the last decade, escalated into an all-out war last February. Many NATO countries, led by the U.S., have firmly supported Ukraine with money and weapons, as Putin has loudly protested, leveling various threats.

Putin also brought up many of the “social justice” issues facing America at the present, and made every effort to paint the West as politically correct pansies who will do nothing of consequence, no matter what line Putin or Russia crosses. His attempt to paint his enemies as lacking morality is laughable, when taking his own record into consideration, but in every bit of criticism there is an element of truth, and the U.S. has been greatly weakened by distractions in recent years.

The treaty’s terms have not been enforced to any degree of certainty, since 2020, and said terms were largely in question from the time it was signed by Obama. The response to the dissolution of the treaty has largely varied across the political spectrum, but we believe a treaty that cannot be enforced or verified is no treaty at all.
